Trigger the right mobile keyboard per field

When to use it

When phone, ZIP or card fields are plain text inputs on a page with over 40% mobile share, so tapping them opens the full keyboard.

How to run it

Set type="tel" on phone, inputmode="numeric" on card, ZIP and CVV, and type="email" on email. Turn off autocorrect and autocapitalize on email and name.

Why it works

Make the action easier to complete

Typing digits on tiny letter keys causes typos in the fields where mistakes cost most. Baymard finds over half of mobile sites fail to trigger the appropriate keyboard, and cites the numeric keypad's keys as ~471% larger on iOS.
