Catch cart abandoners with a save offer, not visitors in general

When add-to-cart clicks run well above checkout clicks, or a top-ten cart page has click rate under 50%, and nothing intervenes as shoppers leave.
How to run it
- 1Add an exit-intent save on cart and checkout pages only that names the objection and answers it: a free-shipping threshold, the total up front, or a small save offer.
- 2Test the objection-first version with no discount, so the discount becomes the escalation.
Why it works
Raise the perceived value of acting
Aim the exit offer at the abandoning cart, where a fixable objection meets the moment of loss. Cart-abandonment popups are the best-converting category in vendor benchmarks (~17%), while a generic exit popup shown to everyone measures under 4%.
